Maruti Suzuki Ertiga – Views From Autoportal India

With growing customer interest in MPVs, it is no surprise that more and more models are being launched in this category. While there is a slightly high price tag for such vehicle types, that does not deter the purchases. The Multi Purpose Vehicle segment has become highly competitive as the customers are looking for vehicles for the entire family. Maruti Suzuki India Limited came out with a utility vehicle with the launch of the Ertiga in 2012.

One of the MPV that have increased attention and activity in this segment is the Maruti Ertiga. This compact MPVs can seat seven passengers and is good enough for city use. The Ertiga offers a 2+3+3 seating arrangement. Maruti Ertiga carries the typical van-like shape. It has 15-inch alloy wheels which do offer an aggressive look to the car. The Ertiga comes with a large air inlet and the bulky head lights that sweep sideways are the features of the exterior of the Ertiga.

The entry to the third row is from the second row. But getting into the third row is tough as you will have to slide and recline the seats all the way forward. The leg space is less on the third row. Ertiga’s seats are cushioned and comfortable. The dashboard layout looks more upmarket than any of its competitors. Separate air conditioning vents in the rear cabin provides cool environment even in the 3rd row.

There are 4 petrol variants, 2 CNG and 3 diesel variants of Ertiga priced Rupees 5.8 to 8.5 lakh. The Ertiga is still in good demand and there is a waiting time up to 6 months for the diesel versions. The petrol variant of Maruti Ertiga is a 1.4 litre four cylinder 1373 cc engine capable of generating a maximum torque of around 130 Nm and a power of around 93.8 bhp. The diesel engine comes with a 1.3 litre 1248 cc DDis turbo engine which can generate a maximum power of 88.8 bhp and a peak torque of 200 Nm. Both engines are mated to a manual transmission. The Ertiga provides around 16 kmpl mileage for the petrol model and around 20 kmpl for the diesel model.

As for the exterior dimensions the Ertiga is wider and has a long wheelbase. The dimensions of the Ertiga are 4265 mm (length), 1695 mm (width) and 1685 mm (height). The Ertiga weighs 1235 kg. The Ertiga comes with MacPherson Strut suspension at the front and Torsion Beam suspension at the rear.

The Ertiga is available in vibrant colours like Serene Blue, Ecru Beige, Firebrick Red, Granite Grey, Silky Silver, Superior White and Dusky Brown.

Ertiga variants are in the Rs 6 to 8.71 lakhs price range.
